Virtual Memory too low Warning Trouble in win xp and vista

When there is less physical memory than needed, then some virtual memory (virtual RAM) is created on the disk. When there is a limit set to the size of virtual memory usage and there is not enough of it present there is a warning that frequently comes “Virtual Memory too low”.

Solution 1 :

This problem occurs when physical RAM + Virtual RAM (usually created on hard disk) together are not sufficient to take care of the currently needed RAM size, or this situation is about to arise. This usually happens when some fixed upper limit for Virtual Memory has been set. To solve this problem, you can either upgrade you physical RAM on your computer (recommended), or you can set the Virtual Memory to system managed size or you can do both. Setting Virtual Memory to system managed size means windows will set it to higher size whenever needed automatically,for this,

Right click on My computer --> go to properties, goto advanced tab, click on performance settings, now click on advanced, now click on change button for Virtual memory.

On this screen select the System managed size, press OK. After this re-start your computer. This will solve the virtual memory too low problem.

Solution 2:

Recommended solution is to upgrade your physical memory (RAM) according to requirements of the kind of applications that you run on your computer. If you upgrade RAM or not, the following procedure will help prevent this warning by increasing the virtual memory limit.

Right click on My computer icon and click properties.

This will show system properties window. Click on a advanced tab and click on the settings button under heading performance.
This will open performance options window. Click on advanced tab and click on change button under heading virtual memory.
Check if the space available is set to some custom value or double the RAM size ?
If it is not double the RAM memory size , then select the size option set the virtual memory size double the RAM Size and press set button and press OK button.
Restart the computer

Recently there has been discussion whether Google has developed some kind of 'TrustRank' which is used to determine search engine positions. If this does indeed exist, then it shows that Google is determined to only give high search engine positions to websites that it deems to be trustworthy, i.e. do not partake in any blackhat/spam techniques.
Although there is no official confirmation from Google that this actually exists, they did just register the Trade Mark for "TrustRank", and perhaps the introduction of the Sandbox is just an extension of the TrustRank implementation.

What Could Affect Your Website's TrustRank?

Domain Age– New websites currently get filtered (the Sandbox), so it seems feasible that the older a website gets, the more trust is placed in it.

Length of Domain Registration - By registering a domain for a longer period may show you have a long-term vision for the website.

Regular Updates - By adding content to your site regularly you show that the site is being continually updated and cared for.

Backlinks - The whole concept of the World Wide Web is that websites interlink with each other, but there are 3 different groups of backlinks:

Good Links: Good links are one-way links from websites that are in a similar theme to your own website and the links are inside a body of text.

'Not-So-Good Links': Not so good links might include reciprocal links, or backlinks from off-topic websites.

Bad Links: Bad links are from websites that operate Blackhat* optimization techniques, or from websites that are banned.

Reliable Uptime – Sites that have poor up-time lose trust.

Targeting KWs based on Traffic over Relevance – Every website is unique, and perhaps if you target the market that applies most to your website, rather than the one that will bring most traffic will increase your traffic ranking.

Spam - Using any kind of Blackhat technique could lose you trust, such as doorway pages, cloaking, duplicate content, pointing multiple domains to the same site, hidden text, keyword stuffing, comment spamming, pop-ups, and hidden links.

Definitions

Cloaking - displaying different content to the search engines to what 'regular' visitors see.

Duplicate content - copying content from other websites and publishing it on your website.

Doorway pages (AKA landing pages) - individual pages that are optimized for one specific keyword.

Keyword stuffing - Over-using your targetted keyword / keyphrase on a webpage. This tactic is usually employed in doorway pages.

Going Off-Topic – Adding content to your website that is not related to your site theme might be seen as a way of spamming, and as a result hurt your TrustRanking.

Bad Topics - Producing a website that is commonly associated with spam/blackhat might reduce your TrustRank. Sites such as gambling, alcohol, anything illegal, hate speech, pornography, or anything that may get filtered by Google's SafeSearch.

Too Many Terms in the Domain Name or URL – For example: www.these-are-all-of-my-keywords.com or www.domain.com/these-are-all-my-keywords.html. This hits more with keyword stuffed URLs.

How To Hide An Entire Partition:

If you're one of those people that have important data to hide or just want to keep your files from prying eyes, this will be useful for you.

1. Click 'Start', 'Run...' and type in 'gpedit.msc'

2. Navigate through User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer

3. Double click on 'Hide these specified drives in My Computer'

4. Modify it accordingly and once you are done, right below it you will find another option, 'Prevent access to drives from My Computer'. Double click on this option and, again, modify it accordingly.

5. To make it visible again, select 'Disable' by double clicking on the 'Hide these specified drives in My Computer' option.

NOTE::But this method just hides the drives from your computer but someone clever enough will type the url in the address bar and can easily access the contents of the hidden drive.

Is ther any solution which actually disables the drive?

Yes, it has. Please try this trick, hope it will work.

1. Open run , type cmd
2. Type DiskPart in command prompt
3. Type List volume
4. select the volume which u want to hide . and type select volume 4(in my case volume 4 is for my G: drive)
5. then type remove letter G
Done

Now someone cant access your drive even by typing address in url

To get ur drive back
select the volume in which no drive letter is displaying
type assign letter g

Do you know the hidden Microsoft song? I hear this song while im installing windows, where its almost at the end where have to register your windows, enter your username.......etc.
Some people might not hear it because, your sound card driver isn't installed. If you want to know and hear that song, here it:

Follow these tips and you will definitely have a much faster and more reliable PC!
1.Let your PC boot up completely before opening any applications.

2.Refresh the desktop after closing any application. This will remove any unused files from the RAM.

3.Do not set very large file size images as your wallpaper. Do not keep a wallpaper at all if your PC is low on RAM (less than 64 MB).
4.Do not clutter your Desktop with a lot of shortcuts. Each shortcut on the desktop uses up to 500 bytes of RAM

5.Empty the recycle bin regularly. The files are not really deleted from your hard drive until you empty the recycle bin.

6.Delete the temporary internet files regularly.

7.Defragment your hard drive once every two months. This will free up a lot of space on your hard drive and rearrange the files so that your applications run faster.

8.Always make two partitions in your hard drive. Install all large Softwares (like PSP, Photoshop, 3DS Max etc) in the second partition. Windows uses all the available empty space in C drive as virtual memory when your Computer RAM is full. Keep the C Drive as empty as possible.

9.When installing new Softwares disable the option of having a tray icon. The tray icons use up available RAM, and also slow down the booting of your PC. Also disable the option of starting the application automatically when the PC boots. You can disable these options later on also from the Tools or preferences menu in your application.

10. Protect your PC from dust. Dust causes the CPU cooling fan to jam and slow down thereby gradually heating your CPU and affecting the processing speed. Use compressed air to blow out any dust from the CPU. Never use vacuum.

Personally I will suggest Mozilla Firefox.

Don’t forget to update computer OS system and other softwares frequently, because the updates will patch security holes and fix software bugs. For Windows OS users, you can use Windows Automatic Updates to update the system.
Also it’s advisable to uninstall those old softwares that you are no longer needed, this can minimize computer security risk and also save precious computer resources.

FireWall Protection :

If you are Microsoft Windows user, activate and use Windows Firewall to protect your computer. If not, you can also test to use ZoneAlarm firewall, PC Tools firewall, SunBelt personal firewall or other personal firewalls to improve your Internet safety.

Most of us wonder is that possible to create the folder in the name of CON??
you cant create a folder named CON, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3,COM1 to COM9 and LPT1 to LPT9....in any of the windows operating system.

The reason is that they are all reserved names and you can't create them under normal methods. However, there are many ways how you can over-rule these rules..
I have found this method through one of my friend.

Google SandBox—The Real Factor

The Google SandBox is a metaphorical term coined by SEOs and Webmasters, not associated with Google, to explain why most new Websites have very poor rankings in Google Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS). The existence of Google SandBox has not yet been clearly proved but there seem to have some changes to Google's Algorithm sometime around March 2004 that denies top ranking for newly launched web sites. Of course, there are exceptions and many Web pages have made it to the top of the SERP in spite of the sandbox, but the sandbox seems to be an inevitable page rank dampening concept.

In November 2003, Google implemented what was popularly known as the "Florida Filter", a filter added to the Google Algorithm to reduce spam. The "Florida Filter" proved to be a disaster as it wiped out many small online shops but didn't fight spam producers as much as it was expected to. Spammers and link farms generate zillions of websites and millions of links every day adversely affecting the SERP rankings of certain legitimate sites. Thus Google might have decided to keep away new sites from getting good ranks till they proved themselves.

It seems of late Google has been withholding high ranking ability of newly launched websites for 2-4 months. The penalty is applicable to new sites only and doesn't affect domains that are 4 or more months old and have good backlinks. The sandbox effect also doesn't affect new pages on long standing websites.

After the newly launched websites prove their worthiness by developing good back links and spend some time on the web they are given a weight and eventually the sandbox effect goes away.

Are You in the SandBox?

Google's spiders may pickup your site through an inbound link or you may have submitted your site to Google but almost all newly launched websites successfully get into the sandbox. Although there are some exceptions mostly all new sites are relegated to the sandbox for sometime.

But How do you know if your site is in the SandBox?

• If the page is in the SandBox, Google doesn't give the page a pagerank
• A "link:www.yourwebsite.com" or "site:www.yourwebsite.com" search on Google doesn't return any results. i.e Google doesn't show signs of any other websites linking to yours nor displays pages related to yours.
• No pages other than your HomePage are listed. Sometimes even the homepage isn't listed.

How Long Does This SandBox Effect Continue?

Although no accurate information is available in this regard, it is generally believed to last for 3-4 months.

What to Do When You Are Struck in the SandBox?

SandBox can really be a boon instead of a bane if you know how to utilize the period of dormancy to optimize your site for better ranking when it comes out of the slumber. Use this time to
• Write good content: Content is the king. A better content will attract more visitors to your site.
• Optimize your web pages: This could be tricky as there would be no way you can measure the effect of your optimizations. But it is worth it, for when you are listed, all this optimization will pay off.
• Build Links: Inbound links go a long way in improving your page rank on SERP and your Google Pagerank. Therefore, start building links.
• Optimize for MSN and Yahoo: These two search engines are growing fast and can definitely bring quality traffic to your site if you concentrate on optimizing for them. MSN and Yahoo don't have a sandbox, so it's worth a try.

How to Get Out of the SandBox?

All though the effectiveness of these methods is not guaranteed, some people claim they work.

Method One: Join Google Adwords or Adsense Programs. Google seems to have different spiders for adsense / adwords and general site crawling but it is widely believed that subscribing to the adsense/adwords programs gets your pages spidered in minutes even by its search related spiders.

Method Two:The most widely used, this method involves purchasing an old domain for its longevity and back links.

But beware Google is known to change their algorithm quite often and the rules for sandbox may change too.

Few years back, there was no awareness about what is SEO(Search Engine Optimization). Well, but now you cant say we don’t know about SEO. Coz, it became one of the most profitable business nowadays. Here am writing this because everyone should know what SEO is and its origin etc…..here it goes HOW…..And I welcome your feed back. If you know anything more than that, please share with me.

Search Engine Optimization:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is often considered the more technical part of Web marketing. This is true because SEO does help in the promotion of sites and at the same time it requires some technical knowledge – at least familiarity with basic HTML. SEO is sometimes also called SEO copyrighting because most of the techniques that are used to promote sites in search engines deal with text. Generally, SEO can be defined as the activity of optimizing Web pages or whole sites in order to make them more search engine-friendly, thus getting higher positions in search results.

How Search Engines Work

The first basic truth you need to learn about SEO is that search engines are not humans. While this might be obvious for everybody, the differences between how humans and search engines view web pages aren't. Unlike humans, search engines are text-driven.

Search engines perform several activities in order to deliver search results – crawling, indexing, processing, calculating relevancy, and retrieving.

First, search engines crawl the Web to see what is there. This task is performed by e piece of software, called a crawler or a spider (or Googlebot, as is the case with Google). Spiders follow links from one page to another and index everything they find on their way. Having in mind the number of pages on the Web (over 20 billion), it is impossible for a spider to visit a site daily just to see if a new page has appeared or if an existing page has been modified. Sometimes crawlers will not visit your site for a month or two, so during this time your SEO efforts will not be rewarded. But there is nothing you can do about it, so just keep quiet.
What you can do is to check what a crawler sees from your site. As already mentioned, crawlers are not humans and they do not see images, Flash movies, JavaScript, frames, password-protected pages and directories, so if you have tons of these on your site, you'd better run the Spider Simulator below to see if these goodies are viewable by the spider. If they are not viewable, they will not be spidered, not indexed, not processed, etc. - in a word they will be non-existent for search engines.

META TAG ANALYSIS:

They are information inserted into the "head" area of your web pages. Other than the title tag (explained below), information in the head area of your web pages is not seen by those viewing your pages in browsers. Instead, meta information in this area is used to communicate information that a human visitor may not be concerned with. Meta tags, for example, can tell a browser what "character set" to use or whether a web page has self-rated itself in terms of adult content.

The Title Tag

The text you use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank your web page In addition, all major crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings

The Meta Description Tag

The meta description tag allows you to influence the description of your page in the crawlers that support the tag

The Meta Keywords Tag

The meta keywords tag allows you to provide additional text for crawler-based search engines to index along with your body copy. The meta keywords tag is sometimes useful as a way to reinforce the terms you think a page is important for ON THE FEW CRAWLERS THAT SUPPORT IT. The meta keyword tag is also sometimes useful as a way to help your page come up for synonyms or unusual words that don't appear on the page itself.

SEARCH ENGINE INDEXING ANALYSIS:

Normally in Search Engine Analysis, the process involves that the number of pages or the website indexed in various search engines. And also involves should check LAST CRAWLED DATE in various search engines about particular website.

BACK LINK ANALYSIS:

Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. In the search engine optimization (SEO) world, the number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (though other measures, such as PageRank, are likely to be more important). Outside of SEO, the backlinks of a webpage may be of significant personal, cultural or semantic interest they indicate who is paying attention to that page.

In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node .Backlinks are also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links. Most commercial search engines provide a mechanism to determine the number of backlinks they have recorded to a particular web page.

SEARCH ENGINE FRIENDLY ANALYSIS:

Search engines have no means to index directly extras like images, sounds, flash movies, javascript. Instead, they rely on your to provide meaningful textual description and based on it they can index these files. If technology advances further, one day it might be possible for search engines to index images, movies, etc. but for the time being this is just a dream.

An Ethical Hacker is an expert hired by a company to attempt to attack their network and computer system the same way a hacker would. Ethical Hackers use the same techniques and tactics as those used by illegal hackers to breach corporate security systems. The end result is the company's ability to prevent an intrusion before it ever occurs.
A company can't know if their security system is solid unless they test it. It's hard, though, for a company's IT team to thoroughly ring out the system. Try as they might, the techs can't go at the system with all the malicious or mischievous motives of a true illegal hacker. To thoroughly uncover vulnerabilities, the theory goes; you must examine your security system through the eyes of an illegal hacker.
The word hacking has strongly negative connotations, and, for the most part, rightly so. But ethical hacking is much different. It takes place with the explicit permission of the company whose system is being attacked. In fact, their "good guy" role is underscored by the nickname "white hat" Ethical Hackers have been given. The nickname is a throwback to old Westerns where the good cowboys could be identified by their white hats.

Who are ethical hackers?

Nowadays three type of hackers can be found: white, grey and black. White hackers are those who use their knowledge for selling their services to clients who want to protect their networks. Black hackers (also known as crackers) are the ones who attack those networks and try to make some money out of it.

Grey hackers are more ambiguous. They don't do it for the money; they do it for the rush. They want to show the world and their hacker friends how good they are.

Requirements for hacking?

The first requirement is to be trustworthy. And for that, you will need to make a name. How? You need to start from the beginning: down. The first step is academic. Most of ethical hackers have written papers on this matter and published through an academic institution. This is an excellent method to show the world how preoccupied you are for computer security and that you have a desire to protect people from the dangers of the internet.

Recession causes? How will US slowdown hit India.

The fear of a recession looms over the United States. And as the cliche goes, whenever the US sneezes, the world catches a cold. This is evident from the way the Indian markets crashed taking a cue from a probable recession in the US and a global economic slowdown.

Weakening of the American economy is bad news, not just for India, but for the rest of the world too.

So what is a recession?

In economics, a recession is a general slowdown in economic activity in a country over a sustained period of time, or a business cycle contraction. During recessions, many macroeconomic indicators vary in a similar way. Production as measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment, investment spending, capacity utilization, household incomes and business profits all fall during recessions.

Governments usually respond to recessions by adopting expansionary macroeconomic policies, such as increasing money supply, increasing government spending and decreasing taxation.

What causes it?

An economy which grows over a period of time tends to slow down the growth as a part of the normal economic cycle. An economy typically expands for 6-10 years and tends to go into a recession for about six months to 2 years.

A recession normally takes place when consumers lose confidence in the growth of the economy and spend less.

This leads to a decreased demand for goods and services, which in turn leads to a decrease in production, lay-offs and a sharp rise in unemployment.

Investors spend less as they fear stocks values will fall and thus stock markets fall on negative sentiment.

Stock markets & recession

The economy and the stock market are closely related. The stock markets reflect the buoyancy of the economy. In the US, a recession is yet to be declared by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, but investors are a worried lot. The Indian stock markets also crashed due to a slowdown in the US economy.

The Sensex crashed by nearly 13 per cent in just two trading sessions in January. The markets bounced back after the US Fed cut interest rates. However, stock prices are now at a low ebb in India with little cheer coming to investors.

Current crisis in the US

The defaults on sub-prime mortgages (homeloan defaults) have led to a major crisis in the US. Sub-prime is a high risk debt offered to people with poor credit worthiness or unstable incomes. Major banks have landed in trouble after people could not pay back loans

How to fight recession

Tax cuts are the first step that a government fighting recessionary trends or a full-fledged recession proposes to do. In the current case, the Bush government has proposed a $150-billion bailout package in tax cuts.

The government also hikes its spending to create more jobs and boost the manufacturing and services sectors and to prop up the economy. The government also takes steps to help the private sector come out of the crisis.

Impact of a US recession on India

A slowdown in the US economy is bad news for India.

Indian companies have major outsourcing deals from the US. India's exports to the US have also grown substantially over the years. The India economy is likely to lose between 1 to 2 percentage points in GDP growth in the next fiscal year. Indian companies with big tickets deals in the US would see their profit margins shrinking.

The worries for exporters will grow as rupee strengthens further against the dollar. But experts note that the long-term prospects for India are stable. A weak dollar could bring more foreign money to Indian markets. Oil may get cheaper brining down inflation. A recession could bring down oil prices to $70.

Between January 2001 and December 2002, the Dow Jones Industrial Average went down by 22.7 per cent, while the Sensex fell by 14.6 per cent. If the fall from the record highs reached is taken, the DJIA was down 30 per cent in December 2002 from the highs it hit in January 2000. In contrast, the Sensex was down 45 per cent.

The whole of Asia would be hit by a recession as it depends on the US economy. Asia is yet to totally decouple itself (or be independent) from the rest of the world, say experts.

"This site may harm your computer" on every search result?!?!

If you did a Google search between 6:30 a.m. PST and 7:25 a.m. PST this morning, you likely saw that the message "This site may harm your computer" accompanied each and every search result. This was clearly an error, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our users.

What happened? Very simply, human error. Google flags search results with the message "This site may harm your computer" if the site is known to install malicious software in the background or otherwise surreptitiously. Google do this to protect our users against visiting sites that could harm their computers. They maintain a list of such sites through both manual and automated methods. They work with a non-profit called StopBadware.org to come up with criteria for maintaining this list, and to provide simple processes for webmasters to remove their site from the list.

They periodically update that list and released one such update to the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file. Since we push these updates in a staggered and rolling fashion, the errors began appearing between 6:27 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. and began disappearing between 7:10 and 7:25 a.m., so the duration of the problem for any particular user was approximately 40 minutes.
